This is the manual for Bell and Howell's first 16mm camera, the Filmo 70. It was the first spring motor-driven 16mm camera. It is date coded 10-1-1926. An addendum which is included at the end of this upload is dated 3-12-1927. Please note that if you plan to shoot with one of these ancient cameras you will need a Neutral Density filter in front of the lens! Film stock back then was in the 4 to 8 ASA range. Modern film (as of 2016, the year of this upload) is 100 ASA and up. You will need to cut down the light going into the camera with the ND filter and use a light meter to successfully shoot with a Filmo 70. This manual was found bent up in the same case as an original Filmo 70 camera and it was in poor condition. An amount of retouching was needed. Over three hours was put into making this upload easy on the eyes. Please do not remove the book plate.
