Camas Mill Photo Project The Chris Sharp-Manger Photos This eighth photograph is dated July 25, 1923, and is one of the clearest images in the collection. It is another railroad-related view, though it is not yet clear whether it connects directly to the earlier Camas Mill construction scenes or shows a different area or phase of work. A rail spur cuts through the scene, with work cars, a small crew, and what appears to be a crane or lift structure in the distance. At left, a man stands high on the cut bank above the activity below. It is possible this shows the western approach to the mill from the Vancouver side, though the location still needs confirmation. What remains unclear is why this particular moment was photographed. Something here was considered important enough to document, even if its purpose is no longer obvious. The work cars, cut bank, equipment, and crew are all visible, but the larger purpose of the scene still needs to be placed.
