About this book
Camas Mill Photo Project – Chris Sharp-Manger Photo 7
Year: 1923
Photo 7 c. 1922–1926 The exact date of this photograph is not marked, but it appears to belong to the same general period as the previous images, around 1922, perhaps extending as late as 1926. It may show a view from atop the same railroad line, this time looking west across the mill yard. The photograph offers a wide look at active construction. Workers appear to be building forms along the right side, while a network of posts, cables, and equipment stretches across the foreground. In the distance, the familiar cluster of mill buildings and smokestacks anchors the scene. If you look closely, smoke is visible rising from the mill. The image itself was in excellent condition, with very little dust or damage. A strange linear mark at the left, possibly a cut in the negative, was left untouched. The exact location and orientation remain uncertain, but the photograph is useful for the way it places construction activity, rail infrastructure, equipment, workers, and the operating mill in the same broad view. It feels less like a single worksite detail and more like a glimpse across the mill yard as a whole.
