Camas Mill Photo Project The Chris Sharp-Manger Photos This tenth photograph is dated May 15, 1926. A Spokane, Portland & Seattle boxcar dominates the upper half of the image, showing the close relationship between the railroad and the Camas Mill. Below the tracks, workers are constructing what appears to be a large timber retaining structure or formwork. The exact purpose of the structure remains uncertain. It may have been part of a concrete pour for a loading platform, retaining wall, or foundation near the tracks. The view may be looking south toward Lady Island, though the location and orientation still need confirmation. At the lower left, what appears to be a tunnel or culvert passes beneath the work area. Together, the boxcar, workers, timber structure, and possible drainage passage offer a useful view of the transportation and support systems surrounding the expanding Camas paper mill.
