his page, titled “Camas Beauties,” comes from the high school album of Katherine Fay Ports (later Katherine Fay Hunt), likely a Camas High School student and probably a member of the class of 1925. The album appears to have been given to her as a Christmas gift while she was still in high school. Though this page stands nicely on its own, it is also part of a much larger visual record. The album follows Katherine, her family, friends, and surroundings across southwest Washington and Oregon, with photographs connected to Camas, Washougal, Portland, Astoria, Toledo, Monmouth, and Ellensburg. It includes school photographs, family pictures, local scenes, and glimpses of the changing path of her early life. Katherine later attended normal school, studied in Ellensburg, and taught at Sunnyside School northeast of Camas; the album appears to preserve traces of those years as well. Her father, Stanley Ports, had been a schoolteacher in Toledo and Astoria and also taught for a time in Coos Bay before hearing loss forced him to leave the profession.
