This scrapbook includes many photographs of Buffalo students throughout the years between 1884 and 1940. Some of them include the names of the students and the teachers. Also included are copies of commencement or graduation programs from the years 1905, 1908, 1917 and 1939. The programs were held at the Buffalo Turner Hall. There is also an 1884 report card, a photo of the 1938-39 girl's basketball team, 1949-50 boy's basketball team, and a program for a girl's high school sectional basketball tournament held in LeClaire, IA in 1939. In addition to photos from the Buffalo schools, there is also a class photo from nearby Jamestown School and Linwood School. According to Buffalo Then & Now, published in 1983 by Rev. Ron Larson, the first house built in Buffalo for school purposes was erected in 1839. In 1850 a school was built at 4th and Washington. In 1860 a vote was taken and Independent School District #1 was created. In 1900 a new school was built, and in 1929 a high school was added to the top of this grade school. 1931 was the first graduating class of Buffalo High School, and it remained open until 1958.
