About this book
Boxing Blade
Year: 1923
The Boxing Blade (later The International Boxing Blade ) was weekly ring periodical by boxing promoter and matchmaker Mike E. Collins (1879-1944). The first issue was published November 21st, 1919 and Collins was editor until selling the title in January 1926. Under new owner Magnus Martinson's Posten Press Inc. and editor Ed G. Walker the title declared bankruptcy and was reacquired by Collins in January 1928. The revived New (International) Boxing Blade ran from April 23, 1938 to c. 1939-1940. The University of Notre Dame has a selection of issues from both editions. The earliest issue in the Hank Kaplan Boxing Archive at the Brooklyn College library is dated June 5, 1920. Issues from Volume 1 of each series are presumably the rarest (and potentially lost forever) due to their early low circulation in the dozens and hundreds. These issues I've uploaded are sourced from The New York Public Library - it spans the entirety of Volume 4 (1923) but the January 13th, 1923 issue is missing. November 17th, 1923 is also missing pages 3/4.
