About this book

Blue and White, Phoenix High School Newspaper, Phoenix Oregon

Author: Phoenix High School (Phoenix, Or.)

Year: 1922

The Phoenix High School published The Blue and White from at least 1922 through 1925. The masthead of the second number, published February 27, 1922 states G.W. Milam Manager, S. Stevens Editor, Assistant Editor E. Caster, Social Editor D. Carless, Illustrator D. Calhoun and Typist M. Sheets. Published twice a month from September through May, the issues announce basketball games between Phoenix, Oregon and Butte Falls, junior and senior school plays and also town news as when the Furry Mill burned down and when the Community Center was opened. The back page generally includes handwritten advertisements for Phoenix confectionaries, Dr. Malgren's office, Jack Fenel's blacksmith shop, the Phoenix Mercantile Company and others. The mimeographed blue pages are sometimes hard to read. These issues held at the Phoenix Historical Society Museum in Phoenix, Oregon and were digitized with their permission with the support of Southern Oregon University. Funding to digitize portions of the museum's collection was provided in part by the Oregon Heritage Commission and an American Cares Act grant in 2021 administered by the State Library of Oregon.
