Rare early Japanese biographical work published in 1914 documenting the life and religious history of Mokujiki Iku Shonin, also known as Mokujiki Shonin (1718–1810), itinerant Buddhist monk, sculptor, poet, and ascetic of Edo period Japan. Authored by Hase Hoshu (長谷寶秀), this publication predates the well-known rediscovery of Mokujiki by Yanagi Soetsu and the establishment of organized Mokujiki scholarship in the 1920s. Historically significant as an early twentieth-century Japanese source preserving biographical traditions concerning Mokujiki before the emergence of the Mingei movement and later academic study.
