Scanned by me on an Epson Perfection V600. Because is a popular art song composed by Guy d’Hardelot with English lyrics by Edward Teschemacher, first published in 1902. Written in a lyrical, late-Romantic style, the song became widely performed in recital and domestic music settings during the early 20th century. This edition presents the complete vocal score with piano accompaniment, including expressive performance markings and published transpositions. Because was later recorded by numerous singers in the acoustic era and remains one of the best-known parlor songs of its time.
