C. J. Batenburg, Catalogus van eene verzameling voorwerpen van kunstnijverheid uit de hoofdstad Palembang en de landstreek Pasemah Lebar, Zuid-Sumatra Instituut, Amsterdam, 1922 An interesting catalog of the arts and crafts of Palembang and Pasemah Lebar region based upon a collection of artifacts collected by C. J. Batenburg during his tenure as an official for the Dutch government. The catalog was published in conjunction with the collection’s exhibition at the Zuid-Sumatra Instituut in Amsterdam 1922. “The exhibition was held in the building of the Ethnology department of the Colonial Institute (Keizersgracht 690) and displayed ethnographic objects from Palembang and the Pasemah Lebar region from the collection of Mr. C .J. Batenburg, a controller in the colonial administration. The focus of the exhibition was on the magnificent collection of Palembang textiles and fabrics collected during his nine-year stay. The objects were arranged according to technique: lace, weaving, embroidery, tambour work, prada work, and openwork. The exhibition was supplemented with other applied art objects, such as metalwork (weapons), copper, gold, and silver work, wood carvings, and lacquerware. A
