About this book
[ALS to John Bruce]
Author: Collier, John P. (John Payne)
Year: 1841
8vo. pp. 4. Letter in which Collier thanks Bruce for his comments on ‘Reasons,’ which arrived while he was at Oxford, from which he has just returned. He is sending Bruce a few copies which he may give away as he pleases. ‘Drs. Bandinel & Bliss at Oxford were quite astonished at what I proved respecting the defects of former impressions.’ While at Oxford he added ‘some very curious and interesting matters’ to what he knew about Shakespeare’s ‘Poems’: ‘It would be strange how Malone missed one of them, if we did not know what a knack he had of missing even what was as easily to be hit as a haystack.’ Click here to view the Johns Hopkins University catalog record.
