Administrative correspondence and documents collected or authored by Adolph Lippe regarding the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania. The bulk of the correspondence is from Adolph Lippe to Henry Keene. Much of the correspondence concerns faculty nominations, acceptances, and resignations, due to faculty disagreements which ultimately led to the creation of a rival school in 1867. There is considerable mention of the "rebels" meant to describe faculty of the opposing school, Hahnemann Medical College. The documents include minutes and by laws of the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania, as well as Lippe's obituary. Adolph Lippe graduated from the North American Academy of the Homeopathic Healing Art in 1841. Lippe became a prominent homeopathic physician, practicing across western and central Pennsylvania, eventually settling in Philadelphia. He lectured and served as chair of Materia Medica at the Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania from 1864-1869 and lead the College during a period of conflict (1867-1869). The Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania was founded in 1848 to provide standardized training in the emerging system of medicine called homeopathy.
