This is a commercially bound volume of pre-printed staff paper with handwritten music by A. Sulzer. There is no front cover of this volume, and the first and second pages contain major scale and chord forms, dated May 10th, 1867. The rest of the volume consists of original compositions by A. Sulzer and his arrangements of waltzes and opera pieces. The volume is heavily notated, and his compositions especially are full of expression text and interpretative material - virtually every musical phrase has a note about how it should be played. Sulzer has also inscribed nearly every page with a date, sometimes down to the hour and minute, and he writes his name and re-attributes his compositions to himself at least once per page. There are indications that Sulzer lived in Brookline, Massachusetts, and that he was a professor. The second to last piece in the volume is written in thin, purple ink, and the last in light pencil.
