About this book

A direct-reading device for computing characteristics of vacuum tungsten lamps

Year: 1915

In a previous paper Middlekauff and Skogland derived characteristic equations for the performance of tungsten lamps in terms of the applied voltage. These results are now applied to the construction of a chart by means of which, if the watts per c.p. are known at any voltage, the c.p. and the watts per c.p, at any other voltage may be read off directly. A chart is given which has a range of voltage of 94 to 166 volts, and a range of watts per c.p. of 0.70 to 2.05. Tables of figures drawn up by the chart and by numerical calculations from tables that are given show that the use of the chart permits of an accuracy of 0.1 % in the values of c.p. and 0.05 % in the values of watts per c.p.
