Further investigations by the Bureau of Standards on the effects of frosting incandescent lamps are described. The results of frosting are classified under three general heads: (1) Change in absorption, (2) change in distribution, and (3) change in life. The lamps were seasoned, and the mean spherical c.p. of 25 lamps of each type was measured. They were then sent to the factory to be frosted, and when they came back their c.p. was measured again. The loss of light is probably due to absorption by the glass and the carbon deposit rather than to the direct action of the frosted surface.
