Excerpt of pages 506 - 514 of a document entitled "ACTS OF THE One-Hundred and Forty-eighth Legislature OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY AND Eightieth Under the New Constitution" [1924] which is a compilation of 1924 laws passed by the legislature Chapter 229 of New Jersey Laws of 1924 authorized and directed the Morris Canal and Banking Company to sell all of the property it held in trust for the state, excepting rights and properties to be retained for public use. The land was to be offered first to the municipalities through which the canal passed, and then to the public.
