Burns has evidence to the effect that Monteen Stover, the star witness for the prosecution in the Frank trial, did not go to the pencil factory on the day of the Mary Phagan tragedy, was told to a reporter for The Constitution yesterday afternoon by Homer Edmondson, stepfather of the girl. Edmondson stated to The Constitution representative that he and his wife had carried Monteen to the offices of Samuel Boorstein recently, at the request of persons interested in Leo Frank’s defense, and that the purpose of the visit was to allow the girl to make a repetition of her statement on the stand so that her evidence could be put in the hands of Detective Burns. While in Boorstein’s office, the stepfather stated, repeated questions were asked the girl which did not concern her evidence. Later, he said, when questions having direct bearing upon her testimony were plied, the father and mother arose to leave, at which there was created a little excitement.
