PDF PAGE 3, COLUMN 4 JUDGE ROAN URGED FOR NEW JUDGESHIP Governor Slaton Tells Commit- tee He Intends to Keep the Place Free of Politics. A committee composed of many of the prominent members of the Atlanta Bar association called upon Governor Slaton at the state capitol Monday afternoon urging the appointment of Judge L. S. Roan to the fourth superior court judgeship, created by act of the last legislature for the Atlanta circuit. Speaking in behalf of Judge Roan several of the city’s best known attorneys declared him to be the man most fit for the position. Eugene R. Black, chairman of the bar association committee, touched upon the “opposition to Judge Roan’s appointment,” and declared it to be based solely on the theory that Judge Roan was not an Atlanta man and that the members of the bar association who had signed a petition asking that Judge Roan be not named had signed it for that reason only. In naming a man for the vacant judgeship the governor declared that he desired above all things to have an unanimity of action on the part of the Atlanta Bar association behind such an appointment. “It would be humiliating,” said the governor, “for such a judge to have to appear before
